Greenwood Memorial United Methodist Church (www.greenwoodmemorialumc.org) and Greenwood Shalom After School/Summer Enrichment Program are pleased to announce that they have been chosen as a rebuilding site for Rebuilding Together’s National Rebuilding Day on April 26th. In collaboration with Rebuilding Together Boston, Inc. and the site sponsor, Boston-based Shawmut Design and Construction, the Greenwood Memorial United Methodist Church and the accompanying Parsonage will receive significant renovations leading up to a large community rebuilding day on Saturday, April 26th, 2008. On April 26th there will be over 180 volunteer workers at the site completing a major rehabilitation of the facilities that will benefit more than 300 families who closely use the church and its services. The efforts on site are being lead by Shawmut Design and Construction who have also secured in-kind donations of labor and materials from area subcontractors and suppliers. Shawmut will provide urgently needed renovations to the church including painting the exterior, replacing damaged cedar shakes, replacing fire doors, excavating and installing a 3’ x 45’ masonry retaining wall, creating a children’s learning area, replacing ACT ceilings and installing iron railings on the new stairs. Shawmut has proven expertise in renovation and reconstruction, managing a wide variety of construction projects from coast-to-coast. Through its involvement in National Rebuilding Day, Shawmut is proud to continue lending its services to the RT organization and to support its underlying mission. “The work at Greenwood is a true testament to the spirit of community building,” says Rebuilding Together Boston, Inc.’s President and Executive Director Martine Taylor. “The Greenwood community has really come together to help make this project happen, and Shawmut has gone above and beyond to ensure the project has the labor and supplies needed to be a success. We are pleased that so many in the community will be on hand to assist on the 26th
