Since the Summer of 2005 we've operated our Summer Enrichment Program. We offered reinforcement of the literacy skills in math and language arts. Children were exposed to poetry, journal writing, public speaking, and drama. In math the academic component stressed that the children master the four operations (based on grade level) to automaticity. Hands on activities included games, painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and drawing. They created arts projects based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in Social Studies. Out side activities were designed to expose our children to activities which will broaden their experience. Field trips are scheduled during the week, not necessarily on Fridays. The following trips have occurred:
1) The Aquarium
2) The Science Museum
3) The Boston Globe
4) The Frog Pond
5) Presentation by Harrison Gray Otis House
6) The Children’s Museum
7) Franklin Park Zoo
8) The Wading Pond on River Street
9) Tennis from Tenacity
10) Dorchester Historical Society
